It is common to think of kids as alienated or disconnected from their parents. The Philosophy of Children will attempt to overcome this perceived gulf with real dialogue, exploration and understanding of the clichés, myths, feelings and very real changes that occur at various stages of childhood development. Two age groups will be focused on, 7-11 years and 11-14 years, each age group presenting its own unique set of issues.

With scenes from the different environments children encounter such as home, school, playgrounds, sports fields and malls, mixed with interviews with parents, school counselors, child psychologists and law enforcement professionals, Philosophy of Children will seek to uncover what makes a truly happy, healthy child or teen. What influences inhibit them from being well adjusted and fully developed? What are the key developmental stages? How can communication between kids and their parents be enhanced?

The film is designed as a tool for discovery, and is meant to help us to celebrate our presence in each others lives, enhance our relationships with our children, and help our children navigate their way through what can be a difficult and sometimes complex world.
